How much does it cost to enroll in a Montessori school?
In the jungle of alternative schools, it can be hard to find your way around. In addition to choosing the school's pedagogical project, there is also the question of tuition fees. And one can't go without the other. For example, the cost of enrolling in a bilingual Montessori school, like those where we welcome your children, breaks down into several parts, which we'll explain in detail below. Aiming for a caring, individualized pedagogy in French and English, centered on the development and autonomy of each child, requires resources and a budget that vary according to the location of the school. At Esclaibes International Schools, we believe in transparency and clarity. That's why we explain how tuition fees are defined and why they reflect the quality of an excellent education.
How much does a Montessori school cost?
The cost of a Montessori school can vary considerably depending on a number of factors. On average, annual fees range from €8,500 to €17,000, depending on location and structure.
There are many reasons for the differences in prices between schools:
- Geographical location: real estate costs in Paris or other major cities can influence the rate.
- Class size and supervision: small, voluntary classes taught by two teachers, so that each child benefits from personalized attention, are bound to cost more than a class of 30 pupils with just one teacher.
- Quality of staff: working with properly trained, experienced educators to build French and English-speaking teaching teams has an impact on the school's operating budget. At Esclaibes International Schools, our educators are trained by our own organization, Apprendre Montessori, the leader in France in this field.
- Infrastructure: Welcoming children to promote bilingual learning in conditions of optimum well-being requires careful selection and layout of the premises. In each international Montessori school in our network, we have designed a safe, warm environment, conducive to active Montessori pedagogy and well-being, to bilingualism, to support excellent learning.
- Teaching materials: Montessori equipment, made from noble and sustainable materials, Anglo-Saxon textbooks, classroom libraries, in French and English, are regularly renewed.

Options and complementary services: anticipate additional costs
Cost of enrolling in a Montessori school: what about options?
When evaluating the cost of a Montessori school, it's important to consider optional services: are they included or not?
For example, our schools offer a day-care service. In the evening, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., a fee is charged (€7/hr).
As far as lunch is concerned, in our schools, to take a break together in the best possible conditions, students can bring their own lunch box or choose a catering option that provides lunch. It's a great way to learn how everyone eats. Every child can eat what they like, whatever their diet. We individualize the pedagogy, so we individualize the meal. This system also makes it possible to open less expensive Montessori schools.
Finally, the school can offer extracurricular activities. This is the case in the bilingual Montessori schools in the Esclaibes International Schools network. We offer :
- English workshops on Wednesdays, for 3-6 year-olds, and even 6-12 year-olds, to learn English, with weekly Montessori activities ;
- English courses for children during the vacations, a bilingual immersion program to learn Shakespeare's language.
Our schools are committed to not including any hidden costs. Each family has access to a detailed and clear presentation of our fees.
Administrative management fees
Application fees, management fees, entrance fees - whatever the name, schools charge fees for the arrival of a new child. Billed to parents, these costs are factored into the annual price of a Montessori school.
As a result, in 2024-2025, entrance fees for our schools will range from 600 to 900 euros, depending on the establishment. As for annual administrative costs, we have done our utmost to reduce them to 300 euros per year, by optimizing our administrative management.
Whenever possible, we try to invest in pedagogical rather than administrative content. We keep advertising to a minimum, in the firm belief that creating a quality school is about maximizing word-of-mouth.
Why enroll your child in a Montessori school in the Esclaibes International Schools network?
Choosing a Montessori school means investing in your child's future. Here's why our international Montessori schools in Paris, Clichy and Marseille stand out:
- Unique training for our educators: thanks to our Apprendre Montessori organization, our teams are regularly trained to offer the best to each student.
- A bilingual environment: learning languages from an early age fosters children's cognitive development and openness to the world, helping them to become bilingual.
- Quality supervision: we have opted for small class sizes and carefully designed premises for an optimal learning experience.
- Individualized teaching: we respect each child's learning pace. We support each child's development in a structured, caring environment.
Our international Montessori schools are private and not under contract. Among the advantages of this non-contractual status:
- small classes ;
- pedagogical freedom while respecting national education programs: this is how we can offer immersion in an English-speaking class for 50% of the schooling time;
- the choice of the teaching team, paid for by family fees.
But being a non-contractual private school also means that the State and local authorities don't allocate any funding. Nonetheless, these alternative schools are subject to frequent and regular pedagogical controls, in particular to check that learning is in line with the curricula and helps to achieve the competencies of the Common Base.
Montessori education, especially in a bilingual environment, goes far beyond simple academic learning: it forms confident, autonomous and curious children, ready to take on the challenges of the future.
Enrolling in a Montessori alternative school: meeting with a school manager
The cost of enrolling in a Montessori school should not be a taboo and you should be completely comfortable with it.
Remember, the most important thing is :
- the presence of a private courtyard;
- the quality of the premises ;
- material quality ;
- training for teachers and support staff.
Our strength at Écoles Internationales Montessori Esclaibes is that we have the leading training organization in France, Apprendre Montessori. We offer the most comprehensive training to our Montessori educators, giving them the tools they need to best meet the needs of each child.
